Pre-Assessment for Physics Class

Secondary General Science For the pre-assessment for my class I decided to quiz the students on material they should have learned previously to grasp if they need more clarification or if they have learned the material. The quiz is going to based on starting points for the rest of the lessons and units. For example, students MUST grasp the concept of what matter is before they can solve any other problems. The pre-assessment quiz that was utilized was a definition quiz and short answer. The students short answer is based on seeing if they know how to apply the definitions to real life. High Stakes Assessments - CCSD & HI DOE

In this blog I will be discussing high stakes testing by comparing the requirements in Clark County School District (CCSD) and Hawaii Department of Education. I am comparing these two schools as I am currently in CCSD but am possibly looking to teach in Hawaii sometime in next few years. Clark County School District (CCSD) Required High School Graduation Requirements In the Clark County School District there are high stakes testing in order to graduate and earn a high school diploma. Over the years CCSD has consistently changed their requirements and high stakes testing and are now trying to roll in a new high stakes testing to replace high school proficiencies. There are different requirements for whichever school year you are to graduate. It’s so important to create a climate of caring and openness in the classroom by developing that positive climate in the classroom. Attention to school climate is a great way to show support to your students well-being socially and emotionally. By observing the school climate and see what you’re working with you’re able to identify how you can best serve the students around you. Every school is going to be different so just learning how to adapt to that school climate will do wonders in your performance. Students, especially high school, are going to go through some difficult and tough situations in their life. Sometimes it may even come from harsh bullying from other students. When we as teachers show the students that we want to help with these issues and tackle the problem in an effective and safe way we show major support that maybe these students are receiving from no where else.
